Ten (times two) Haiku on Letting Go of a Loved One ©

This is always true

All of us experience

Love joining our lives

Inevitably

A love in our life will leave

Leave but is not lost

A love that has left

May be gone physically

But has joined our soul

Love that we have found

Changes us permanently

We don’t have a choice

We carry our love

In every situation

We must accept this

Love may leave us but

We still carry it inside

In all that we do

Our love for a child

Endures when the child moves out

Not the same but there

Our love for a spouse

Endures even past their death

Or if there’s a split

We’re changed by our loves

We are not the same person

Not a choice that’s made

Love lost will happen

This is inevitable

No matter the love

Except for our God

Our loved ones always leave us

Or we will leave them

A loved one that’s left

Leaves us with feelings of grief

Even if it’s our choice

The grief that we feel

By a hole now in our soul

Must be accepted

A soul that’s enhanced

Can experience new loves

Even new visions

With a second love

Or a third or more each brings

Enrichment to you

You may be faced with

Personal disasters but

All, change, your life’s course

A change is a chance

For finding new happiness

Not a replacement

No love replaces

A past love or eases grief

It’s simply new love

Never stop seeking

Fresh new life experiences

Keep your heart open

Your past is ingrained

In all that you are today

Celebrate new loves
