Ten Haikus on “The Butterfly Effect” ©

In March of ‘64

A dislocation ended

Gymnastics for me

No longer able

To compete at my high school

Killed my scholarship

A tragedy but

A true blessing in disguise

It changed everything

I didn’t make the team

I transferred from ISU

Then to NIU

There met my first wife

Eleven years of great bliss

Sadly though she passed

There were other stops

Some were happy some were sad

But life continued

Then ‘97

The convention in Dallas

Met Laurie this time

If no injury

No transfer to NIU

Wouldn’t have met Lana

Unintended stops

Often tragic, often sad

Changes life’s end points

Markers in my life

Have taken me to Laurie

Give thanks for life now
